Scrappy’s buys reinforced (reo) bars
Reo mesh (short for reinforcing mesh), also known as reinforcing steel, is a network of steel wires used as a tension device in concrete and masonry structures to strengthen and improve tensile performance. While concrete is strong under compression, it is weak under tension. Reo mesh significantly increases the structure’s tensile strength. The mesh surface is often deformed with ribs, lugs, or indentations to improve the bond with concrete and reduce slippage.
The most common type of reo mesh is carbon steel, typically made from hot-rolled round bars with deformation patterns. Other types include stainless steel or composite bars made from glass fiber, carbon fiber, or basalt fiber.
